Texas Manufacturer Successfully Meshes 3D Printing with CNC Production -- and Saves Money in the Process An oil and gas equipment manufacturer for more than 9 decades, Dixie Iron Works just recently began incorporating 3D printing as a core principle of product development -- with the help of AM expert, Markforged. Despite the higher material cost of 3D-printed metal parts compared to CNC-machined equivalents, the Texas company has found additive manufacturing to actually be less expensive when factoring in CNC machine programming, setup, tooling, and labor costs of highly-trained operators.
